Understanding
Starting Prices are noted on Services Page
This page is here to offer transparency around what goes into a project, what you’re paying for, and why.
The goal isn’t just to give you a number, but to help you understand what’s involved, so you feel informed and confident about moving forward.
Pricing: What Affects the Cost of a Custom Website?
When people ask, “How much does a website cost?”, the honest answer is: it depends
That’s not the most satisfying or helpful response, but when it comes to custom websites, especially for growing businesses, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.
A simple brochure site for a micro-business is quite different to an online shop, and again to a multi-page site for a company with multiple services, a team page, case studies, mailing lists, custom chatbots. The time, tools, and skills needed vary hugely, and subsequently so does the price.
Why It’s Hard to Give a Fixed Price up front
Every project is unique – even two websites that look similar on the surface can require very different behind-the-scenes work. Here are just a few of the variables that can affect the cost:
Number of pages: A five page site costs less than a twelve page one, naturally, as there is more work involved. An online shop typically at least doubles the number of pages to style, plus setup of payment gateways, privacy and security considerations if your customers need a login and account. Pricing reflects the additional time, consideration and effort taken for a professional setup
Type of content: Text-heavy sites are different to ones with image galleries, videos, or downloadable resources. Even adding 3D models is more complex than adding a static image
Custom features: Online booking, team bios, product filtering, custom chatbots, and newsletter setups all take time and careful consideration to configure
Design depth: A minimalist layout is quicker than a fully bespoke, branded design with animations, 3D, and refined styling
For this reason, I generally offer base pricing on this site first, followed by a more specific quote once we’ve talked through your goals and requirements.
What’s Included in the Price?
Here’s what’s normally covered in your website project cost
Access to the Divi visual builder (with no extra license cost during our work together although ongoing updates are part of the Care Plans)
Setup of free, lightweight plugins for security, performance, SEO, GDPR and more
Branded design tailored to your business: Fonts and colours, unless specified by you at the start
Training and support using Divi to change and add content for up to 4 weeks after launch
Help sourcing appropriate images and video (including AI or royalty-free assets)
Optional light consultancy and coaching to help clarify your brand messaging and values
You’ll get a clear, collaborative process and I’ll guide you step-by-step without jargon-loaded tech overwhelm.
What’s Not Included (Unless Agreed Separately)
Some things fall outside the standard scope of the project and may be offered as extras if needed:
Web hosting, domain registration, or SSL certificates setup (these are often bundled with your hosting provider)
I am happy to advise you on what to look for and/or purchase for anything related to these items
Ongoing content updates, blogs, or SEO strategy after launch (available via the Care Plans or bespoke retainer arrangements)
Secure online payment services or advanced booking systems: If you have a scheduler system already setup it’s usually easy to embed this into a bookings page on site. You will have to setup your own accounts and payment details for payment services which can then be connected to in the website build
Printed materials, merchandise, or non-web design deliverables
Maintenance and plugin/software updates (available via the Care Plans)
That said: if you’re unsure, just ask. I’m always happy to clarify what’s included and what might need to be quoted separately.
